A Touch of Luxury at Abode Bombay
The second instalment after touching down in Mumbai and arriving at Abode Bombay.
We arrived in the dead of night to some sleepy yet still welcoming, informative staff members and we were shown to our ‘Superior Luxury’ room.
The spacious rooms have stunning bamboo blinds that cover the double height windows that surround each wall. Come morning you have plenty of light and an interesting view of the little side street the hotel is situated on.
The room features unique, handmade, art-deco tile flooring. It boasts the colours famous with Indian style - bold, bright and beautiful.
The Indian vintage furniture has a rustic and earthy feel. The style has been perfected to make you feel at home. A real sanctuary with beautiful books, pillows and little design touches making for a really personal feel.
The en-suite bathroom features a walk-in rain shower and smells sweetly of jasmine.
The main focus of the room has to be the free standing bathtub, which we of course relaxed in most nights. There's just something about a bath in the middle of a hotel room and it’s the perfect way to cure jet-lag.
Each room comes with a basic mobile telephone complete with enough credit for your stay. This is to ensure you can stay directly connected with the hotel, should you get lost, need directions or to be picked up. I’ve never seen this in accommodation before and I’m so impressed by the innovative idea. The mobile is also your direct line to the lobby - simply dial 1 for any room service!
Not only this but Abode are setting precedence socially and environmentally. They are the first hotel to use local women drivers (who in many cases are single mothers and sole earners in the family). Abode helps empower these women by helping them own their own cars and become self-sufficient.
Abode also offer spa services for the duration of your stay. They employ fantastic massage therapists from the school for the blind across the road.
Travelling is usually all about moving around. Abode Bombay was the perfect place to stop and soak in our new surroundings. Spending three days here at the start of our Indian adventure was bliss.
A massive thank you to the whole Abode Bombay team. We felt so looked after and at home.
See you next time!
